The Roost (Animal Crossing New Horizons)

If you're a fan of Animal Crossing New Horizons, you'll recognize "The Roost" owned by Brewster the coffee-loving Pidgeon. As a passion project, I decided to spend my time making designs come to life. What would the advertising of this fantasy world look like?

LCD Screens

Advertising is getting more digital so the fan favorite mysteriously named "pigeon milk" is an ode to the fanbase joke of "What even is that?" Although odd in our world, it is beloved in the Animal Crossing world. So, I thought it would make a perfect staple to advertise across the horizons.

Take out Items.jpeg

Packaging

Takeout items would be essential due to your character's constant renovations. The color palettes of green and yellow are staples throughout these designs. Food items have the saying "hungry? take your pick." as drink items state "sip. slurp. savor." The food-safe paper would have coffee beans printed on it as an ode to Brewster, the barista.

Reward Cards

The rewards card is a simple punch out card with coffee beans. I am a huge fan of the wrap around line as it adds a sense of movement and connectivity to the card. "Real Roost Rewards" was an alliteration I could not pass up.

Business Cards

The tiles on the business cards are a reference to the wallpaper within the cafe shop in the game. The catchphrase reading "sip. slurp. savor", this is a reference to Brewster's insistence on drinking your coffee piping hot.

So what is "pigeon milk?" No one in the fandom really knows. I like to think it is a milk alternative that is sold by the bottle. Brewster consistently asks the player if they would like to add a splash and gladly gives it to them. This design is how I imagine it would be sold within the cafe brand.

Menu

The menu is a simple 5x7 stock card for convenient use for the viewer. A small menu for a small coffee shop. It has the staples of most cafe items as well as the currency "bells" (b). The menu also has a call back to the takeout bags. "hungry? take your pick." and "sip. slurp. savor."
